What is the Home Team?
Home Team is our endurance athletic program - a partnership between Covenant House and popular athletic events across the United States. We offer athletes at all levels of competition the opportunity to make their miles more meaningful by supporting homeless youth while they train and compete. Our team is small but mighty and every team member is invited into our Covenant House family, receiving personal attention from staff and volunteer leaders.
Home Team was founded in 2009 from the vision of one volunteer - Bill Cannon - along with the support of his family and the dedication of Covenant House staff and Board members. Together they ran with and coached 25 runners in the ING New York City Marathon. Since that debut in the marathon, Home Team members have participated in other prestigious races of various lengths, including the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run, New Orleans' 10K Crescent City Classic, the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and Ironman Lake Placid.

HOW DOES COVENANT HOUSE HELP HOMELESS KIDS?
For millions of homeless youth, basic needs like a hearty meal, warm bed, and safe shelter are true luxuries. Instead of knowing the joys of childhood, homeless kids face the life-or-death dangers of living on the streets. Covenant House was founded more than 40 years ago with the mission to serve these young people with absolute respect and unconditional love.
Today, Covenant House is the largest privately-funded agency in the Americas providing food, shelter, immediate crisis care, and essential services to homeless youth in 31 cities throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America.
But we don’t stop at offering an immediate safe harbor. We strive to move each young person forward down the path to an independent adulthood, free from the risk of future homelessness. For more information, please visit www.covenanthouse.org.
